Stansted Airport is located 64 km North-West of London, and is considered as the biggest European airport in terms of passengers volume and rate of development, since this is the base of the two major European low cost companies, Ryanair and Easy Jet.
Stansted has been the mile-stone among the so called “minor airports”, and it was the first airport to have low cost companies landing and taking off here. In fact, the very first low cost travels always had London and Dublin as destinations or ports of call.
Now that the airport has become very big, we recommend to arrive early respect to your boarding time, since security controls are possibly the most scrupulous and intransigent among all European airports, and there are often long lines forming.
